El Chaparral Pool & Terrace
A rectangular pool with a wide porcelain terrace, wall washers for evening light, an aluminium bioclimatic pergola and a cover roller.
Completed pool and terrace in El Chaparral
A straightforward, well-proportioned outdoor project on a flat plot in El Chaparral: pool, terrace, shade and light, done as one job so that the levels and the drainage work together.
The terrace is deliberately generous on the long side, which is where furniture actually goes, and it is laid in a pale porcelain that stays cool underfoot. Wall washers in the boundary wall light the water at night without lighting the neighbours. The pergola is a bioclimatic aluminium unit with adjustable louvres — more expensive than timber, but it survives coastal winters without maintenance and can be closed against rain. A slatted cover on a roller keeps heat in and leaves out; on a pool this size it pays for itself in heating and cleaning within a couple of seasons.
