Builders in La Florida: choosing between a concrete, a ceramic and an above-ground pool

La Florida is a settled urbanisation in Orihuela Costa, which means the first thing we check on any job is how machinery reaches the plot. Our four published pools here show three different ways of building a pool — concrete, ceramic-finished and above-ground — and this page explains when each one makes sense.

Short answer

Creator Company Alicante S.L. (N.I.F. B26705343), based in Torrevieja, has published four finished pools in La Florida: a 3×6 m, a 4×3 m, a 7×3 m ceramic-finished pool and an above-ground pool. 2026 list prices, before IVA: €13,500 (5×3 m), €14,500 (6×3 m), €16,500 (7×3 m); list prices are by size with no finish tiers, and the terrace around a new pool usually adds €2,000–5,000. La Florida is in the municipality of Orihuela, which charges the construction tax ICIO at 4% of the cost of the works.

La Florida is one of the districts of Orihuela Costa, where the page on the whole coast has prices and permits. This page is about the choice of pool type, which is where the four La Florida projects differ.

What we have built in La Florida

First check: how does the machine get in

La Florida is a settled urbanisation, so on every pool here the first thing we check is access for machinery. It decides how the excavation is done and, with the ground, what the written quotation says. We review access and excavation separately from the list price, on site, because photographs of a garden say little about the street and the gate.

Three ways to build a pool

TypeLa Florida projectChoose it when
Concrete pool (shell built on site)3×6 m and 4×3 mThe plot allows excavation and you want the shape and size fitted to the garden
Ceramic-finished pool7×3 mYou want a factory-finished shell with depth of colour that holds up to sun and pool chemistry over the years
Above-ground poolAbove Ground Pool projectSite levels make excavation awkward: the work goes into a level base and a surround that makes it look built-in

An above-ground pool keeps excavation to a minimum, so the effort moves to preparing a level base and building the surround. On a plot where site levels make a hole awkward, it is a practical alternative. Our list prices are fixed by size with no finish tiers; the exact price of a ceramic or above-ground option is confirmed in the written quotation. The size ladder is on the prices page and the price logic in how much a pool costs on the Costa Blanca.

Sizes in the four projects

  • 4×3 m — plunge-size, about 12 m² of water: cooling off and sitting in the water rather than swimming lengths; suits smaller plots and keeps running costs low.
  • 3×6 m — compact family pool, about 18 m²: enough water for children to play and adults to cool down, while leaving usable terrace on at least two sides.
  • 7×3 m — compact family pool, about 21 m², €16,500 at 2026 list price.

Permits in La Florida

As in the rest of Orihuela Costa, the town hall is the Ayuntamiento de Orihuela and the construction tax ICIO is 4% of the cost of the works. A renovation without structural work goes by a declaración responsable; if the property is in an urbanisation with a community of owners, check its statutes before planning a pool or a raised structure; some regulate what can be built in private gardens. See the licence guide.

More guides for owners here: cosmetic refresh or full renovation, rewiring and plumbing in an older property, smart home costs and repairs while you live abroad.

Also: IVA 10% or 21% and the 4% ICIO, how long a renovation takes, renovating to let or sell and how to check a builder before you sign. Neighbouring districts: Villamartín, La Zenia and Cabo Roig.

Questions we get asked

Can you build an above-ground pool in La Florida?

Yes. We have published an above-ground pool project in La Florida: because it keeps excavation to a minimum, the work concentrates on a level base and a surround that makes it look built-in.

What is the difference between a concrete and a ceramic pool?

A concrete pool is built as a shell on site and fitted to the plot. A ceramic pool, like our 7×3 m project in La Florida, has a factory-finished shell; the ceramic finish was chosen for its depth of colour and for how well it holds up to sun and pool chemistry over the years.

How much does a 7×3 m pool cost in La Florida?

Our fixed 2026 list price for 7×3 m is €16,500 before IVA, with no finish tiers. Access, excavation, the terrace and equipment options are assessed on site and priced separately.

Why do you check machine access first?

La Florida is a settled urbanisation, and how an excavator or delivery reaches the garden decides how the work is done and what it costs. We confirm access, ground conditions and the exact scope on site before the written quotation.

Planning a pool in La Florida?

Send the address and a few photos of the garden and of how a vehicle reaches it. We will tell you which type and size is realistic, what it costs and what has to be checked on site — before any commitment.
