Builders in Los Altos: pools on sloping and irregular plots
Los Altos plots often sit on a slight slope, and not every garden is a rectangle. We have five published pools here — from a 3×4 m triangular pool on an irregular plot to a 5×3 m with terrace — and the questions that decide each of them are levels, retaining and shape. This page goes through them and what the work costs in 2026.
Creator Company Alicante S.L. (N.I.F. B26705343), based in Torrevieja, has published five finished pools in Los Altos: 3×6 m, 4×3 m, 5×3 m, 5×3 m with terrace and a triangular 3×4 m on an irregular plot. The project pages note that Los Altos plots often sit on a slight slope, so levels and retaining are checked before the pool position is fixed. 2026 list prices, before IVA: €13,500 for 5×3 m, €14,500 for 6×3 m; the terrace around a new pool usually adds €2,000–5,000.

What we have built in Los Altos
- Los Altos Triangular 3×4Pool on an irregular plot, about 12 m² of water
- Los Altos 4×3 PoolPlunge-size pool, about 12 m² of water
- Los Altos Pool 5×3About 15 m² of water
- Pool Los Altos 5×3 + TerraceBuilt with its terrace in the same job
- Los Altos 3×6Compact family pool, about 18 m² of water
Our Torrevieja page lists the same projects among its pools and outdoor projects; this page is about what is particular to them.
What a slope changes
On all five Los Altos projects the first check is the same: levels and retaining are checked before the pool position is fixed. That order matters, because the position determines where the excavation goes, how the terrace meets the garden and where water drains. In practice:
- Pool position follows the levels, not the other way round: the survey of levels comes first and the position is fixed afterwards.
- Retaining — where the ground steps, a wall may be needed before the pool; it is scoped on site.
- The terrace is where the slope is resolved. The 5×3 m project with terrace was built in one job, so levels, drainage and paving meet the pool edge correctly instead of being added later.
When the plot is not a rectangle
The triangular 3×4 m pool is the clearest example: the plot called for a shape that is not on the list of standard rectangles, and the pool was built to fit it, with a glass fence and wood-effect porcelain around. At 3×4 m it is a plunge-size pool of about 12 m² of water — for cooling off and sitting in the water rather than swimming lengths, keeping running costs and water treatment low. Shapes and sizes outside the list are priced in the written quotation after the site visit.
Size and price
| Project | Water | 2026 price |
|---|---|---|
| 3×4 triangular and 4×3 m | about 12 m² | Not on the list: quoted after the visit |
| 5×3 m (with or without terrace) | about 15 m² | €13,500 |
| 3×6 m | about 18 m² | Not on the list: quoted after the visit; compare 6×3 m at €14,500 |
The eight list sizes, up to 15×5 m, are on the prices page. Terraces and outdoor areas start at €320/m² before IVA (terrace costs explained), and the build itself is on the pool construction page.
Permits and tax
The construction tax ICIO is 4% of the cost of the works in both Torrevieja and Orihuela. Which town hall applies to a Los Altos plot is shown by its cadastral reference, and we confirm it before quoting. Renovation without structural work goes by a declaración responsable; structural work needs a certificate from an architect or engineer; a new house needs a full licence — see the licence guide. If the house is in an urbanisation with a community of owners, check its rules before planning a pool.
More guides for owners here: cosmetic refresh or full renovation, rewiring and plumbing in an older property, smart home costs and repairs while you live abroad.
Also: IVA 10% or 21% and the 4% ICIO, how long a renovation takes, renovating to let or sell and how to check a builder before you sign. Nearby: El Chaparral and Torrevieja.
Questions we get asked
Can a pool be built on a sloping plot in Los Altos?
Usually yes. Los Altos plots often sit on a slight slope, so we check levels and retaining before the pool position is fixed, and the terrace is built with the pool so levels and drainage meet the pool edge correctly.
Can you build a pool that is not a rectangle?
Yes. Our Los Altos project is a triangular 3×4 m pool built for an irregular plot, with a glass fence and a porcelain terrace. Non-standard shapes are priced in the written quotation after a site visit.
How much does a 5×3 m pool cost in Los Altos?
Our fixed 2026 list price for 5×3 m is €13,500 before IVA. The terrace around a new pool usually adds €2,000–5,000; access, excavation and any retaining wall are assessed on site and priced separately.
Is a 4×3 m pool worth building?
At about 12 m² of water it is a plunge pool: right for cooling off and sitting in the water, not for swimming lengths. It suits smaller plots and keeps running costs and water treatment to a minimum.
